Transgender District
The Transgender District is the first legally recognized transgender district in the world, founded in 2017 by three black trans women. It encompasses six blocks in the southeastern Tenderloin and two blocks of 6th Street in San Francisco, preserving and celebrating transgender history and culture. The district provides community space, advocacy, and support, including launching the Riot Fund to address funding gaps and build financial stability for trans-led organizations.
