Argentina's Gender Identity Law (Law 26.743), enacted in 2012, establishes the right to self-perceived gender identity, allowing individuals to request changes to their legal name, image, and sex on official documents without requiring surgery, hormone therapy, or judicial approval. The law also guarantees access to gender-affirming healthcare for adults and mandates respectful treatment of chosen names. A 2025 decree modified Article 11 to explicitly prohibit minors from accessing such medical interventions.
