Court allows gender marker change without surgery

A Taiwanese trans woman won a lawsuit allowing her to change her gender marker without undergoing surgery. The Taipei High Administrative Court ruled that a 2008 Ministry of Interior memo requiring surgery and mental health assessments was unconstitutional. This is the fifth such case in Taiwan, and advocacy groups are calling for broader legal reforms.
