Namibia High Court declares colonial-era gay sex ban unconstitutional

Namibia's High Court ruled that colonial-era laws banning same-sex acts between men are unconstitutional, a landmark decision for gay rights in the country. The ruling, delivered on 21 June 2024, was brought by activist Friedel Dausab with support from the Human Dignity Trust. While same-sex marriage remains illegal, the decision is seen as a step toward inclusivity and improved access to health services for LGBTQ people.
