Project 2025 Wants the FBI to Brand All Trans Life as Terrorism

This is not policy, it's the opening of a purge carried out under the cover of law.

The Heritage Foundation, chief architect of Project 2025, has issued its newest order: create a federal terrorism category called "Transgender Ideology-Inspired Violent Extremism" (TIVE).

This is not about stopping violence. It is about erasing us.

Under their wording, every part of trans existence becomes "extremism".

This would label you a terrorist:

  • Calling transphobic rhetoric violent, even though the evidence is undeniable: in states with anti-trans laws, suicide attempts among trans and nonbinary youth rise by up to 72%.
  • Naming the fact that their policies kill, even though study after study shows trans suicide comes from rejection, harassment, and violence, not from being trans itself.
  • Using our language: cisgender, deadnaming, misgendering. Those words would now be considered violent extermism.
  • Teaching enlightened consent, the principle that young people who understand their choices have the right to consent to their own care. Even affirming that basic right would be branded as hateful propaganda.

The only "safe" trans person under their design is the one who lies, who accepts the label of "mentally ill," who denies her own life into silence.

This is the point. This is the purge.

The Lie of "Trans Terror"

They invoke the assassination of Charlie Kirk as proof of a so-called terror wave, despite the fact that the graphic murder was not carried out by a trans person, nor for any trans goal. But the numbers are plain:

  • Trans people make up about 1.6% of the U.S. population, yet accounted for only 0.1% of mass shooters in the past decade (FactCheck.org).
  • Trans people are over 4x more likely to be victims of violent crime. Including rape, sexual assault and aggravated assault (Williams Institute).
  • Lifetime suicide attempt rates for abused trans people reach 32-50%, but drop sharply in affirming, safe environments Trevor Project.

When rhetoric calls us monsters, people act on it. According to CDC data, 17.7% of transgender women surveyed (about 1 in 5) reported suicidal thoughts in the past year, with the risk rising sharply among those who faced violence and harassment (CDC, 2023). Words kill. And they know it.

The "terror wave" is smoke and mirrors, it is a manufactured crisis to forge a repression machine. They'll test it on our bodies; once it works, they'll aim it at every throat that speaks. You can already see the first reports of speech being muzzled everywhere.

How They Define "Extremism"

Heritage and its Oversight Project propose that "extremism" includes:

  • Naming our abusers.
  • Describing their policies as deadly.
  • Using the language we built to survive.
  • Claiming our right to exist without shame.

And this isn't just about us. These are the same tools every community needs to fight back:

  • Imagine women forbidden to speak of misogyny.
  • Imagine people of color barred from naming racism.
  • Imagine journalists silenced from exposing abusers.

That is the world they are building.

They want it all stamped as terrorism.

This Isn't About Violence. It's About Silence.

The FBI cannot legally designate communities as terror groups. Heritage knows this. They don't need to outlaw us, they just need to invent a category.

With "Transgender Ideology-Inspired Violent Extremism" (TIVE) on the books, police can surveil us. Employers can blacklist us. Judges can cite it. Media can repeat it. The lie bypasses the truth — and becomes real.

It is not "public safety." It is state permission to hunt us.

And once that machine is built, it won't stop at us. The same tool will be re-shaped against every minority, every community that dares to resist.

Hold the Line

This is the playbook of fascism: invent a threat, inflate it into hysteria, then use it to criminalize survival itself.

They are not asking the FBI to stop violence. They are demanding the FBI deputize violence against us.

We cannot let them.

  • Tell the truth: trans people are targets, not terrorists.
  • Refuse the framing: our words are not crimes.
  • Hold the line: today it is us, tomorrow it is everyone.

Call it what it is.

Not debate.
Not misunderstanding.
Not policy.

It is the opening of a purge. And silence is complicity.
